Genome Protection's Scientific Founder and CSO, Dr. Andrei Gudkov, to present at the 6th Aging Research, Drug Discovery, and AI Forum during the Basel Life Congress
Monday, August 19, 2019 — Genome Protection, Inc. (GPI) today announced the presentation of Andrei Gudkov, Ph.D., D.Sci., GPI's Chief Scientific Officer and Professor of Oncology at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, at the 6th Aging Research, Drug Discovery, and AI Forum during the Basel Life Congress, September 10-12, 2019 in Basel, Switzerland.

"DNA damage in somatic cells accompanied with sterile chronic inflammation are common hallmarks of aging. Epigenetic derepression of endogenous retroelements that occupy nearly half of mammalian genome contributes to both. Approaches to targeting the 'retrobiome' for anti-aging treatment will be discussed," said Dr. Andrei Gudkov.

The 6th Ageing Research, Drug Discovery, and AI Forum Basel will bring together leaders in the ageing, longevity, and drug discovery field, to describe the latest progress in the molecular, cellular and organismal basis of ageing and the search for interventions. Furthermore, the forum will include opinion leaders in AI to discuss the latest advances of this technology in the biopharmaceutical sector and how this can be applied to interventions. This event intends to bridge academic and commercial research and foster collaborations that will result in practical solutions to one of humanity's most challenging problems: ageing. The Forum will be held in Basel, Switzerland, September 10-12, 2019.

"Over the last 5 years, the "Ageing & Drug Discovery" and "AI for Healthcare" forums have been leading events at Basel Life, attracting hundreds of delegates from over 50 countries. This year, we are combining the 2 platforms into a 3 day-event titled "the 6th Ageing, AI and Drug Discovery Forum" to explore the convergence of these 2 cutting edge disciplines. Under the program leadership of Professor Morten Scheibye-Knudsen and Dr. Alex Zhavoronkov, with distinguished scientists and industry experts in the field, we look forward to exploring breakthroughs for this great healthcare need for the planet," said Dr. Bhupinder Bhullar, Chair, Innovation Forum program committee, Basel Life 2019.

"The 6th annual Ageing Research, Drug Discovery, and AI Forum at Basel Life will have a fresh program featuring some of the most prominent scientists and industry players in ageing and longevity research covering the theory, applications and convergence of these three exciting areas," said Alex Zhavoronkov, Ph.D., Founder, and CEO of Insilico Medicine, Inc.

GPI's Drs. Andrei Gudkov and Yakov Kogan spoke at the 2019 Ending Age-Related Diseases conference in New York City co-sponsored by Genome Protection
Thursday, July 11, 2019 — Dr. Andrei Gudkov, GPI's Chief Scientific Officer and Professor of Oncology at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, spoke today at the 2019 Ending Age-Related Diseases conference in New York City, USA, delivering a talk titled "Retrobiome in aging: systemic DNA damage by retroelements, its intrinsic mechanisms, and therapeutic approaches to prevent it". Dr. Gudkov was later followed by GPI's Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Yakov Kogan, who provided conference attendees with a detailed overview of the company.

The conference is organized by the Life Extension Advocacy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy longevity and aging research through crowdfunding and advocacy initiatives. It took place at the Cooper Union in New York City on July 11th-12th. GPI was one of the financial supporters of the conference, serving as a Silver Sponsor.

The goal of the conference is to promote collaboration between academia, biotech companies, investors, regulators, public health advocates, and doctors in order to foster the creation of interventions to relieve our aging society from the burden of age-related diseases.

The morbidity from chronic age-related diseases is increasing proportionally to the aging of the global population, representing a challenge to social protection and healthcare systems around the world. The development of next-generation drugs and therapies that could directly target the processes of aging to more effectively prevent and cure age-related diseases has now become a priority, yet the industry is clearly facing unique financial, development, and regulatory bottlenecks.

About the Life Extension Advocacy Foundation
The Life Extension Advocacy Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting life extension, longevity, and aging research through crowdfunding and advocacy initiatives. Its mission is to connect the researchers and scientists developing the latest advancements with the people who support them through initiatives such as To date, more than $300,000 has been collected by in support of seven studies.

LEAF hosts the Rejuvenation Roadmap, a curated database of various drugs and therapies that target the main mechanisms of aging, helping the public to visualize their developmental pipeline through preclinical stages, human clinical trials, and final approval.

LEAF also runs the Longevity Investor Network, which organizes pitch sessions and connects new biotech companies with investors.

Genome Protection, Inc. took part in the 2019 Nature's "Ageing, Health & Rejuvenation" conference in Rotterdam
Wednesday, June 26, 2019 — Dr. Brandon Hall, GPI's Project Leader, took part in the 2019 Nature's "Ageing, Health & Rejuvenation" conference in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, delivering a poster presentation titled "Pharmacological targeting of the LINE-1 reverse transcriptase activities towards anti-aging and anti-cancer applications".

The conference was jointly organised by Erasmus Medical Center, Nature, Nature Medicine and NatureReviews Molecular Cell Biology. It brought together many experts from diverse fields of research that explore the mechanisms of ageing and rejuvenation, from the perspective of genetics and epigenetics, cellular quality control and senescence, stem cells, metabolism and brain function. The aim of the conference is to foster interactions and stimulate discussion of recent and unpublished advances in our understanding of the ageing process, and to explore new therapeutic opportunities for the rejuvenation and preservation of organs and tissues to extend healthspan.
